QRIC appoints Dayle Brown to steward’s panel

The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission has appointed one of Australia’s most experienced racing industry and sports professionals to the Queensland thoroughbred stewards’ panel in the short term.

Commissioner Ross Barnett welcomes Dayle Brown to Queensland to assist in the stewarding function and as a racing advisor to work with our stewards during the all-important Winter Racing Carnival period commencing tomorrow at Eagle Farm.

“In addition, Dayle will provide support to Chief Stipendiary Steward Peter Chadwick throughout the Carnival.

“Dayle has extensive experience in the racing industry and in professional sport, including as a senior stipendiary steward.

“Dayle will bring to Queensland his extensive thoroughbred racing experience as the lead advocate for Racing Victoria, before the Victorian Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board, Racing Appeals Tribunal and Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

“In addition to being a former executive general manager of integrity services at Racing Victoria his significant racing experience spans more than 20 years, including thoroughbred, greyhound and harness racing.

“He has also been Chair of Racing Victoria’s Equine Welfare Committee for the past three years,” Mr Barnett said.

“Dayle is a solicitor admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria and is a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of Australia and holds a Bachelor of Laws and an MBA.

“His significant resume also includes a role as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer Greyhound Racing New South Wales where he had overall responsibility for integrity, infrastructure (tracks), wagering, race programming and grading.

“I am very much looking forward to working with Dayle who will bolster the ranks of our current panel which has been reduced recently due to illness and the impending departure of Senior Steward Ian Brown.”

North Gregory TC (Winton) Saturday 30 March – ABANDONED

from Racing Queensland

The North Gregory TC (Winton) non-Tab race meeting scheduled for Saturday 30 March 2019 has been ABANDONED due to weather/state of the track.

The club had worked tirelessly to repair the racetrack following the flooding event earlier in the year, but approximately 80mm of rain overnight  has made the track unsuitable for racing.

As a result additional races will be added to upcoming race meetings at both Mount Isa and Longreach.  The additional races are:

Mount Isa RC – Saturday 6 April 2019

Benchmark 60 Hcp           1450m                   $9,000

Longreach JC – Saturday 6 April 2019

Benchmark 50 Hcp           1200m                   $7,450
